vote no on everything proposition propositions california constitution democracy republic vote ballot 8 supreme court

The changes we support include restrictions that would prevent civil rights from being taken away using the proposition system.  Proposition 8 was an inappropriate use of the proposition system that provided no rational secular benefit to California and hurt thousands of citizens and their families.

We support overturning Proposition 8 through any legal options available

This includes a constitutional convention or a future proposition to eliminate Proposition 8 in 2010 or 2012.  In choosing between the lesser of two evils (supporting a proposition vs. allowing civil rights to be violated), we opt to defend fair and equal treatment of the citizens of California.

VNOE’s position is in accordance with our core principles, re-stated below:

        • Vote NO On Everything promotes an educated electorate and a default "no" vote on California propositions.

        • Voters may consider voting "yes" on propositions if first they fully inform themselves about the true costs and implications of their vote.

        • Civil rights should never be restricted by a popular vote and deserve a higher level of scrutiny and honesty than the proposition system allows.

        • We seek to educate people about the proposition system to encourage more intelligent voting choices.  Ultimately we aim to revise the broken California proposition system.
